Our team of biologists has over 30 years of experience with fisheries management. They use a comprehensive approach to pond management by looking at every aspect of the pond ecosystem including the vegetation, prey populations, and predator populations. Our team will use their vast knowledge to tailor a custom pond management program to fit your needs and meet your goals.
John Martin – Fisheries Biologist
John graduated from Virginia Tech in 1998 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fisheries and Wildlife Management. After graduation, he completed an internship with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service at Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge in North Carolina. There he assisted with multiple projects, including waterfall and sea turtle nesting surveys.
From there he worked as a technician for a municipal wastewater company in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where he performed EPA testing of wastewater and groundwater sites. In January 2001 he moved into the field of aquaculture, joining Southern States as they began a large indoor recirculating tilapia operation.
He moved to Valdosta, GA in August 2001, advancing within the company. He managed all of Southern States’ Georgia operations until December 2017, when he left the company to begin working for TLC Perfect Pond.
Jody Hall – Fisheries Biologist
Jody attended Auburn University from 2006 to 2009 where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Fisheries Science and Allied Aquacultures. During his time at Auburn, he worked at the E.W. Shell Fisheries Station where he helped manage multiple catfish, carp, and tilapia research ponds.
After graduating, he moved to Sacramento, CA where he worked as a fisheries technician with Freshwater Fish Company. During his time in California, he raised striped bass, largemouth bass, and bluegill for that company. Jody moved to Valdosta, GA in 2010 to join Southern States Farmer’s Catch operation working with indoor recirculating systems growing tilapia. In January 2018, he joined John Martin at TLC Perfect Pond.
Jody also has extensive experience with nuisance wildlife control. He worked with the USDA Wildlife Services for multiple years, along with being an official volunteer with the Wildlife Services for over 20 years.
